to the site where the quarrying activity will be. In
addition, pine seedlings which will be planted as a
buffer on the boundary lines where the Park and the
proposed site in Area III adjoin will prevent any loss of
aesthetic view.
5. Open excavation area shall not exceed eight (8) acres.
Number 5 is acceptable to the applicant and has been what the
applicant has suggested all along. If the open excavation is
limited to eight (8) acres, as sites are used up, they will have to
be reclaimed and restored to agricultural use as required by the
conditional use permit.
6. Opening of the pit in the year 2000 unless the adjoining
Carpenter pit ceases operation of their field lime
production. The restriction to open the pit in the year
2000 was requested by the applicant. In the event the
Carpenter pit ceases operation of their field lime
production, then the "Lien" pit shall be permitted to
open so there would be no hardship on the Township
farmers to obtain their agricultural field lime.
The applicant has proposed not opening the pit or any quarry
operations until the year 2000 unless the adjoining Carpenter pit
ceases operation. The recommendation of the Town is too narrowly
drawn inasmuch there are other products which will be produced
besides ag lime. Included in the products to be produced will be
lime rock products produced for road use and for the installation
of sewer and water lines in cities and municipalities. In short,
the lime stone quarrying activity would make agricultural field
line available in the Christiana Township area but would also make
road materials and other lime stone construction materials
available in the rural Dane County area.
7. CUP shall be valid for a ten (10) year period from the
date of approval by Dane County. The applicant may apply
for renewal for five (5) year periods within six (6)
3
