Motion carried. /
STREET OPENING REQUEST - TERRENCE WALL: Mr. Wall wasn't present when Chairman
called this agenda item, Deferred to see if he shows up. Terrence arrived and showed aerial
photo, and stated last week he was at Planning Commission meeting regarding street opening
permit regarding Burke Road. Burke Road down to the quarry is in City of Madison except for
strip from nursing home to Zeler property, They have started construction of City View Drive
along backside of American TV store and that will continue along back side of nursing home.
The intent is to raise the new intersection up a create a level street and have Burke Road
connect with new street, City View Drive. That will take away steep hill, creating a safer driving
environment, flow of traffic, etc. At the Planning Commission meeting, access to the nursing
home was questioned, specifically emergency vehicle access. Historically, access was from
driveway off Burke Road and presently they have access only from the west of Burke Road
because the intersection Is being torn up 4 feet. They have a temporary gravel access to back of
nursing home. There will be a permanent driveway apron put in there when City View Drive is
completed.
They are also building an insurance company with a parking lot adjacent to the south side of the
nursing home and there will be access via the lot for emergency vehicles. The other issue was
fire hydrants. Historically there were no fire hydrants and the fire department used tanker trucks
.) to fight the fires. With the construction there are now 13 fire hydrants, 10 within 400' and 2
within 100'. In addition the water pressure is up to municipal water pressure standards so fire
fighting capabilities are far superior today.
