•
COMPOSITE REPORT - Page 2 APPLICATION NO.
STAFF COMMENTS
REGIONAL PLANNING
CUP 1226. This is a proposed expansion of a quarry site in the Town of Bristol. The
town/county plan designates this area as an agricultural preservation area where the policy is:
"Mineral extraction operations may be permitted provided that they meet all the
policies and standards of the town with regard to road usage and are compatible
with surrounding use of land. "
• Stone Quarry Road, which functions as a frontage road along USH 151, has been used
for many years for access to the two quarry sites to the north.
• There are two existing quarries to the north, one belonging to the applicant, and one to a
different company. There are four single-family homes within 1/4 miles of the site, two
to the west and southwest, and two to the east along CTH VV. These houses have all
been there for some time.
• This appears to be a reasonably logical expansion area for the quarry; however, 40 acres
is a very large area. Suggested conditions could be:
A phasing plan of 5 or 10-year increments, rather than approving the
entire parcel.
A reclamation plan which also seeks to reclaim the existing quarry to the
north.
Blasting limits and hours of operation similar to other quarries.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH (septic, etc.)
DANE COUNTY HIGHWAY
OTHER
