Jeff Smith expressed opposition <br /> to the park because it is too secluded and they had experienced <br /> vandalism at other parks recently. Chief Olson thought it was a <br /> prime spot for a "child-napping' . Eugene Skaar reminded the board <br /> that this landfill was used first by the village and that the <br /> village still has 20% responsibility for the site. He also <br /> expressed concern that the liability insurance might be extremely <br /> high. Supervisor Kurt recommended that we find out some costs <br /> involved with making this a park. Supervisor Kurt will check with <br /> the insurance carrier, Chair Elsberry will talk to the village, <br /> Jeff Smith will find out cost of a dirt berm, and Supervisor <br /> Griffin will check with the DNR about a species list of what can <br /> and cannot be planted there, and what items on the "exemption <br /> list" need to be met. This discussion would be put on the August <br /> 15 agenda. <br /> IX. ANNUAL APPROVAL OF BORROWING FOR CASH FLOW PURPOSES <br /> Treasurer Linda Bollig reported that the town would be under <br /> $70,000 in the cash accounts after the current bills and known <br /> road bills come in. Supervisor Griffin moved and Supervisor Kurt <br /> seconded a motion to borrow $125,000 for our short term cash <br /> needs. Motion carried. <br /> X. GASTON QUARRY UPDATE <br /> The Bank of Sun Prairie was not invited as they had told Chair <br /> Elsberry that there was a prospective buyer for the property. <br /> It was discovered in the conversation that the bank did not have <br /> a copy of the town ordinances . Chair Elsberry will try to contact <br /> the new owner and give them a copy of the ordinances . <br /> XI. The Parks Committee will make formal recommendations for its <br /> new members and chair at the next town board meeting. <br /> XII. BOARD MEMBERS REPORTS <br /> Chair Elsberry expressed concerns over Flynn Hall-where to we <br /> stand with the village and the Lions Club? Harry Homburg had <br /> offered to donate a new furnace to the Lions at one time, but the <br /> town owns the building. There was also some discussion about <br /> putting in air conditioning and fixing the basement. Chair <br /> Elsberry will talk to Jerry at the Lions Club and report back to <br /> the board. <br /> Supervisor Hampton reported that the EMS Committee will be working <br /> on their budget beginning with their meeting on August 9, and <br /> continuing on August 18 , and 23. <br /> Supervisor Kurt reported that there will be a disaster drill at <br /> Hydrite sometime in October and that they are working on a new <br /> water purification system. <br /> XIII.
