The Town of Middleton has consistently maintained since discovery of the mobile
home that it represents real property under Wisconsin Statutes. On Thursday, August
12, 1993, the Wisconsin Department of Revenue agreed with the Town's position. As
such, the owner of Hide-Away Storage has incorrectly classified the mobile home and
will be subject to additional State, County, VTAE, School District and Town
property taxes.
-The representative of Hide-Away Storage suggested, in rebuttal testimony, that
because Dane County has no County-wide ordinances prohibiting mobile homes, then
the Town of Middleton should not be allowed to prohibit mobile homes.
•
Allow us to reiterate that the Town of Middleton does not prohibit mobile homes.
However, such mobile homes must be located in a licensed mobile home park. There
is no licensed mobile home park in the Town.
The Town of Middleton Board of Supervisors has unanimously rejected the conditional
use permit sought under Application # 1092. We urge the Zoning and Natural Resources
Committee to deny the permit.
We appreciate the opportunity to present our views regarding this matter. Please feel free
to contact the Town if you should have any questions.
;14'
Cord' 11 ,
g d, Town Supervisor
cc:Committee Members
Town Board Members
William Fleck
Tom Voss
