-Item 5. c. of the conditional use permit application indicates that improvements
existed on the original parcel. This statement is not accurate. No improvements
existed on the property when purchased by the current owner.
-The Town of Middleton Board of Supervisors is outraged by the comments of the
Regional Planning Commission regarding Application #1092 which stated:
"This residential use is an existing mobile home in the Town of Middleton. This
site is an outdoor storage area, with the mobile home near the center-rear of the
site or at the south end. Such a residential use appears warranted for this type of
site where 24-hour security is required."
No one from the RPC ever contacted the Town of Middleton regarding this matter.
If the RPC had contacted any Town official, we would have informed them of our
Town ordinances which prohibit mobile homes, except in licensed mobile home parks.
This is yet another example of the RPC's absolute disregard for the legal rights and
responsibilities of the Town of Middleton, its elected officials and its residents.
Indeed, we would request your Committee to determine the following:
A. Did any RPC member physically visit the Hide-Away Storage site prior to
preparing the staff comments?
B. On what basis did the RPC determine that this site is "the type of site where
24 hour security is required?"
C. Does the RPC even have a copy of the Town of Middleton ordinances?
It is our sincere belief that the unprofessional and totally incompetent actions of the
Regional Planning Commission in this matter is indicative of larger issues concerning
the RPC which the County Board should investigate.
-Hide-Away Storage has always claimed the mobile home as "personal property" for
the purpose of property taxes. The Town Board has questioned this self reported
classification for several months. As you know, the representative of Hide-Away
Storage represented to your Committee during his recorded testimony that the mobile
home is attached to utilities and is off the ground on blocks.
