• <br /> MINERAL EXTRACTION <br /> • <br /> Requirements for Application, Operation and Reclamation <br /> Sec. 10.12(2)(a) and 10.126(2)(a) Dane County Zoning Ordinance <br /> Mineral Extraction includes quarrying, borrow pits and other processing or removal of <br /> mineral resources including removal of topsoil/black dirt and fill dirt or clay. <br /> APPLICATION SHALL INCLUDE: <br /> 1. A written statement of the operation containing the following: <br /> a. Description of the operation (Sand/gravel; stone quarry; lime; black dirt, etc) . <br /> b. Date operation will commence. <br /> c. Sources, quantity and disposition of water to be used. <br /> d. Estimated date for completion of excavation. <br /> e. Estimated date for completion of reclamation (see RECLAMATION below) . <br /> f. Existing use of the land. <br /> g. Proposed use after reclamation. <br /> 2. Site plan showing: <br /> a. Location of proposed operation. <br /> b. Excavation area showing proposed final elevations. <br /> c. All residences within 600 feet. <br /> d. Location of lakes, rivers, streams, etc. <br /> e. Existing and proposed roads and drives. <br /> OPERATION REQUIREMENTS: <br /> a. Topsoil shall be saved. <br /> b. Excavations below the grade of a public street or highway shall be set back <br /> from said street or highway a distance not less than that required for <br /> buildings and structures under this ordinance. <br /> c. Zoning permits are required for buildings, additions, etc. <br /> RECLAMATION: <br /> a. All final slopes around the area shall be flatter than a 3:1 slope in sand, <br /> gravel or borrow pit operation or in a safe angle or repose in a quarrying <br /> operation. <br /> b. All final slopes and pit areas shall be covered with topsoil and seeded to <br /> prevent erosion. <br /> c. The area shall be cleared of all debris and be left in a workmanlike condition. <br /> OTHER: <br /> a. If land is zoned A-1 or A-2 a conditional use permit is required. <br /> b. If land is zoned A-1 Exclusive or A-3, both rezoning to an appropriate district <br /> and a conditional use permit are required. <br /> c. The conditional use permit shall be for the period of time specified in the <br /> application or as modified by the Zoning and Natural Resources Committee. <br /> d.
