Application for a Conditional Use Permit in Dane County
I. Legal description of the land:
The N 933+ ' of W1/2 of NE1/4 of NE1/4 of Section 32 ,
Town of Middleton T. 7 .N. ,R. 8 . E.
II. Tax parcel Number: 19-0708-321-8060-4
III. Filing Fee of $100. 00 is enclosed.
IV. Proposed Use of the Land
A. Background Information
The previous owner, a polo player, had prepared 10
acres of the property (far northwest corner of the
property) by seeding the area with durable, athletic
grass seed to establish a polo field. The owner
installed a white vinyl fence along the road side of
the field (both on Valley View and Meadow) . This
protects direct access to the roads from the field
except at two gate locations which are kept closed
during any field activity. The land on which the polo
field exists is a low lying wetland which acts as a
natural waterway in the spring of each year and during
heavy rains. To use this land as a polo field means
that it must be groomed weekly (in the spring the grass
must be cut at least three times a week) and kept free
of any debris.
The new property owners have graciously allowed the
Madison Polo Club to continue to use the field as long
as the club abides by three conditions: (1) The
field/land must be properly maintained, free of weeds
and debris, and kept in top condition (seeded,
fertilized, mowed, etc. ) ; (2) The club, its members and
agents must have adequate insurance and sign liability
waivers in order to use the field, and (3) The club,
its members and agents must conduct its activities in a
responsible, adult fashion to be courteous to the
property owners and their neighbors.
B. The Madison Polo Club
1. Practice.
The Madison Polo Club currently consists of 15
members from various areas within Dane County.
Members currently use the field to play polo,
develop their horses for the game, teach others
the game of polo and enhance their own polo skills
and abilities. This is done by playing each
other. We play on the field three to four days
