Application for a Conditional Use Permit in Dane County
Page 2
per week, depending on the condition of the field.
It is our understanding that these activities do
not require a conditional use permit.
When using the field, all horses, trailers,
vehicles are parked on the edges of the field
within the fence line. If people see us playing
and stop along the side of the field to watch, we
always invite them to watch from within the field
and park their vehicles on the side of the field.
This is done for safety for themselves and others
using the road so that parking is not on either
road. We do not ask for any charge from
individuals wanting to watch us practice.
2. Playing Other Teams.
In order to enhance the skills of the players, it
is important to interact and learn from other
players. We would like to have the opportunity to
invite other polo teams from around the midwest to
play games on the polo field. During any one
polo season, which begins around May 15 and ends
around October 15, at most we would like to invite
at least one, but not more than two, other teams
to play on our field in any four week period. it
is custom within the polo community, that when a
team comes to play on your field, you must
reciprocate and go and play on their field. When
a team comes to play on a field, parking is,
again, confined to the field. Also, if people
stop to watch, they would be invited onto the side
of the field for parking and viewing. No charge
would be required for watching the game.
3. Benefit Games
To give back to the community, polo clubs are
often asked to hold benefit games to raise money
for needy organizations. For example, our club
played in Baraboo this summer to raise money for
the Hope House. A benefit usually includes the
following:
1. A team is invited in to play our club.
2 . Either food is served under a tent or
tailgate spaces are reserved. People are
charged a fee to cover the expenses for the
event (food, rental of portapotties,
announcing system, fee to announcer, etc. ) ,
plus an amount that can be donated to the
beneficiary organization.
