Am
il
0, •
i
I
We little people don't have the means to bring Wingra Stone to
court each time they cause jammed well pumps with attendant
plumber's bills, sand in our potable water supply with attendant
undesirable drinking water, plus breakage of our precious knick-
knacks. All of these are relatively insignificant individually. Put
them all together and you can see, we are significantly injured as 1
we replace windows to control energy use, replace well pumps to
provide our water, and lament unreplaceable sentimental objects.
1
Again Wingra Stone is proposing to come even closer to our
community with their air shattering and earth quaking. It is
difficult to prove physical damages to our homes and our bodies as
specific to Wingra Stone's operation. While they say they are
meeting DNR regulations, that does not really protect our
1 community. The only way we would be totally relieved of the
environmental affects of the quarry is for them to cease and desist
I their operation.
f
In 1980, our Town officials, this committee, and the Dane County
Board denied Wingra Stone's request to expand their operation into t
this same 39.9 acres. Here they are, back again, knocking at your
door, despite the fact that the decision in 1980 was "No".
c
1
In the interim 13 years, this community has grown, larger and the
health and welfare of even more families will be affected by their
further intrusion into our neighborhood. `
No one should be allowed to come 300' away from a community of
family homes, 35 properties, several of which are multi-family
units, to harvest an outcropping of lime rock and profit for one
business. Perhaps they're hoping memories have faded, people have t
moved away, and that policy and policy makers have changed.
It is my hope, and I'm sure I can safely speak for my neighbors,
this committee of policy makers will reaffirm the decision in 1980,
and will, for the second time, deny a conditional use permit to
Wingra Stone Co, and will so recommend to the Dane County Board.
Respectfully,
1
X
Joyce Poole
Resident of Hillside Heights
Town of Verona
1
1
f
1
1
t
t
t
1
t
