Because the citizens opposing the permit <br /> were not able to have an opportunity to respond to questions, or <br /> the rebuttal remarks made by the Town representatives, I am <br /> writing to register my views on several matters that arose after <br /> the citizens' presentations. <br /> One of the predominant concerns of the citizens opposing the <br /> permit was the possibility that baseball lighting would appear at <br /> the site, significantly disrupting the rural atmosphere that <br /> continues to exist in the western portion of the Town. The <br /> Master Plan presented to you by the Town representatives shows <br /> three baseball/softball fields, but no lights. However, the Town <br /> baseball program has made a "needs assessment" that calls for two <br /> of the fields to be lighted. Furthermore, Town representatives <br /> have repeatedly indicated their first priority in developing the <br /> site will be to "duplicate" current facilities, which presently <br /> include a lighted field and a beer concession. Therefore, the <br /> development of the site for this recreational use is imminent, <br /> and the position of the Committee as to the application of the <br /> • <br />
