Dane County proposes to remove the clay soils from this parcel during 1994.
Approximately 100,000 to 200,000 cubic yards will be needed. Clay extraction will
begin in the Spring of 1994. Scrapers will be used to remove and stockpile the
overlying topsoil. The clay materials will then be excavated and transported directly
across Cross County Road to the landfill site. Once the clay has been excavated, the
borrow area will be regraded to resemble the original topography and drainage
patterns. The topsoil will then be replaced and the land restored for future use.
Access from the site will be directly across Cross Country Road into the northeast
corner of the Verona Landfill. Access roads and the portion of Cross Country Road
being traversed will be maintained as necessary by Dane County. The parcel is
currently used for agriculture. The majority of the adjacent land is also agricultural or
else part of Badger Prairie Park. Only two single family residences are located on this
section of Cross Country Road. The parcel is approximately 3/4 mile south of several
residential developments located near CTH PD.
The final topography of the parcel will be only slightly modified. Pits will not be
developed and steep side slopes will not be created. Drainage and erosion control
measures will be taken to prevent siltation of nearby water conveyances.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call me at 266-4139.
Sincerely,
DANE COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
001/4L,
Allan Czech, inski
Solid Waste Engineer/Hydrogeologist
