This would allow for the
proper and full input from neighboring homeowners and citizens most
directly affected by this expansion as well as the concerns of the
Village Board.
The Village Plan Commission approved a conditional use for expansion
of this site earlier in the month. This decision may have been premature
since the issue of blasting was never submitted nor mentioned as a
means of expansion at this meeting. Only after the fact did discussions
reveal that blasting would be used with the expansion of the quarry.
If this information had been presented at the time of the Plan
Commission meeting, it is quite likely that a different decision
would have been reached. Furthermore, proper notice was never given
to those landowners directly near the site. Anyone within blasting
distance would be affected by this expansion and should have been
properly noticed. This area would include segments of Waunakee and
lands within our extraterritorral jurisdiction.
It would be an injustice to those landowners as well as the future
of this area not to fully discuss and consider the social, economic,
and environmental ramifications of such an expansion.
Thank you for your concern and understanding.
Sincerely,
Wt,e,U2F) '
Paul E.
