The area is
adjacent to our existing CUP at the Brunner Quarry. It is
located in the N 1/2 of the SE 1/4 of Section 13 in the
Town of Windsor.
PROPOSED USE CF THE PROPERTY:
We would like to remove the existing rock hill to the
Southwest of our existing CUP. The area currently can ' t be
farmed , because it is too steep and in places the rock
comes right to the surface. After the rock hill is
leveled , we would spread dirt & topsoil over the area. As
a result, we' d actually gain additional agricultural area
after the rock hill is leveled .
A TIME SCHEDULE:
We would like to build a large earth storage berm along the
Southeast side of the CUP area. Then after the rock hill
is leveled in approximately 25 years, depending on economic
conditions, etc . we will reclaim it for agricultural
purposes.
REASON WHY PROPERTY IS SUITABLE FOR PROPOSED USE:
There is an existing active quarry next to the property
already and we would like to remove the rest of the rock
hill .
There is a need for a close source of crushed rock products
for the repair, maintenance & safety improvements for the
roads which the Town of Windsor, Village of DeForest & Dane
County have in this area.
Dane County Highway Department (see letter attached )
indicates they use approximately 45,000 cubic yards (CY) of
crush rock aggregate annually for roadway improvements &
maintenance. They use a figure of $.40/CY/mile for the
cost of hauling the crushed rock . If the sources of this
aggregate where further away, on average say 6 miles, the
County would spend 6 x $.40 = $2.40/CY x 45,000 CY =
$108,000.00 more each and every year in their budget.
Proposed increased fuel taxes would raise these costs even
higher in the future. All of us as taxpayers would need to
pick up this extra cost .
