'SENT UY;DANE GO HWY MADISON ; 9-23-92 ; 8;04AM ; DANE GO HWY-MADISON-) 846 9704;# 2
0114. This year, because of the recent addition of larger
trucks in our fleet, we used $0 . 40 .
This figure can be significant, especially for longer hauls .
Often it amounts to more than the cost of the aggregate itself.
From our perspective, it 's very important that aggregate
sources are nearby and readily available. Our department uses
approximately 45,000 cubic yards of aggregate Annually for
roadway improvements and . maintenance. That amounts to a
considerable investment.
Tax dollars , in one form or another, fund road construction and
maintenance. Unfortunately, inflation is making it more and
more difficult to provide the same level of service the public
expects . Therefore, anything that reduces our operating costs ,
such as nearby mineral deposits , ultimately benefits the
taxpayer .
DANE C. t► Y HIGHW'Y AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT
'enni L.
