The hydrogeologic assessment was conducted to evaluate <br /> potential impacts of the proposed sand and gravel mining operation on the local groundwater <br /> system. The report was completed at the request of Natural Resources Consulting, Inc. The <br /> hydrogeologic assessment consisted of a records review, telephone interviews, data evaluation <br /> and report. The records review for this assessment included the following available materials: <br /> • USGS topographic quadrangle maps for Evansville, Attica, Oregon and Rutland. <br /> • Well construction reports for an area approximately 0.5 miles from the site: Dane <br /> County - Section 36, and W Y2 of Section 30, Township 5 North, Range 9 East, W <br /> ' of Section 30, NW 1/4 Section 31, Township 5 North, Range 10 East, and <br /> Green County— E ' and NW 1/4, Section 1, Township 4 North, Range 9 East. <br /> • Well construction reports and geologic log (DN-1303-G,D) for the village of <br /> Brooklyn municipal wells. <br /> • Dane County Groundwater Protection Plan (DCRPC, 1999)) <br /> • Numerical Simulation of Groundwater Flow in Dane County, Wisconsin (WGNHS <br /> Open File Report 1999-03). <br /> • Hydrogeology of Dane County, Wisconsin, (WGNHS Open File Report 1999-04). <br /> • Hydrologic Investigation Atlas, Water Resources of Wisconsin Rock-Fox River <br /> Basin (Cotter et al., 1969) and the Pecatonica-Sugar River Basin (Hindall and <br /> Skinner, 1973). <br /> • Pleistocene Geology of Dane County, Wisconsin (WGNHS Bulletin 95, Clayton <br /> and Attig, 1997) <br /> • Wetland Inventory Maps for Dane County, T 5 N, R 9 E, and T 5 N, R 10 E, <br /> 1986. <br /> • Soil Survey for Dane County, 1978, USDA-SCS. <br /> Two telephone interviews were conducted. An interview with Dr. Ken Bradbury, Hydrogeologist <br /> with the Wisconsin Geologic and Natural History Survey, was conducted on October 27, 2003 to <br /> discuss groundwater quality. Mr. Robert Anderson, Director of Public Works for the Village of <br /> Brooklyn, Wisconsin, was interviewed on June 10, 2003 regarding the village's water supply and <br /> wellhead protection program. <br /> Draft site development and reclamation plans for the proposed project prepared by Payne and <br /> fhwDolan were reviewed as part of this assessment.
