•
Jeffory C. Schwandt &
Deborah R. Johnson
922 Johnson Avenue
Oregon, WI 53575
Dane County Zoning Department - Zoning and Natural Resources Committee
Attention: Shary Bisgard, Chair
Room 116, City-County Building
Madison, WI 53709
December 30, 1991 REAM 3 - 1992
Regarding: zoning petition #5251 (copy attached)
This letter is to register our opposition to the referenced application for change of zoning and
conditional use permit.
Our home is located on the highlighted lot on the attached map. You'll note that our lot is directly
adjacent to the lot to be affected by the zoning change.
We oppose the change for the following reasons:
1. We believe allowing the parking of semi-tractor/trailers on the property will have a significant
effect on the value of our property. This summer we had our home for sale. Virtually every
potential buyer that viewed our home asked about the trucks and trailers that were parked on the
adjoining lot. Ultimately we elected to not sell our home.
2. We purchased our home because of the rural, residential nature of the neighborhood. We don't
want the aesthetics of the area to change.
3. The streets in the neighborhood are narrow and winding, and we believe, not safe to handle
traffic from semi-tractor/trailers.
4. There have been instances when the tractor has been allowed to idle for long periods of time.
This is very disruptive in a residential neighborhood.
5. We are concerned about what may happen on the site in the future if this zoning change is made.
For instance could this change lead to more trucks and trailers or unsightly buildings that are not
in keeping with the current nature of the neighborhood?
6. The petitioners should have been aware of any restrictions on the use of the property when it
was purchased.
In summary, we believe that the application for change of zoning and conditional use permit should be
turned down to preserve the rural, residential nature of our neighborhood.
Sincerely,
/
Je wry C. Schwandt
Deborah R. Johnson
