•
JAMES M. WILKIE, M.D.
8075 Old Sauk Pass
Cross Plains, Wisconsin 53528
608-831-5410
Page Three
While I realize that our farmland is in an agricultural
preservation area , the fact is that we did not sign up for this
agricultural preservation because of our age and the fact that
the farm does not constitute an economically viable farm unit .
It has seemed to us to be the best way of conserving the
agricultural land on the property is to sell it in parcels
where the probability of continuing the use agriculturally
would be reasonably good .
Item 7 of the R .P.C. comments does not really accurately
describe the criteria to be met . First of all , every effort is
being made to perserve productive farmland for continued
agricultural use and the likelihood of this occurring is
enhanced by transferring this property into other hands
friendly to this idea. While the field is large enough for
cropping and represents prime agricultural land to the extent
of about 10 acres , it should also be recognized that it is a
wetland and is disturbed substantially by water during certain
seasons . The field is located adjacent to suburban development
with 5 dwellings being served by the short access road called
North Birch Trail . All in all there are 8 residential
dwellings .
I will be in attendance at the meeting on February 25th and if
there are any further questions regarding this , I would be glad
to do my best to answer . In the meantime , it may very well
desirable for someone from the R. P.C. to actually inspect the
area that is in questions here and to reassure them that what I
have said in this letter is accurate . So far I have not had
any communication from the R.P.C . and no one from that
organization has offered to inspect or inquire directly to me .
In conclusion, please accept my thanks for your patience in
this matter .
Respefully Yours ,
-17
!jj ames M. Wilkie , M.D.
JMW/bjc
cc : Tom Smiley , Chrmn. , R .R.C .
