We believe that their proposed
use as a treatment center for alcoholic women and their children
has a number of benefits for the Yahara Center' s neighbors and
our community.
Our neighbors would benefit from a significant reduction in the
traffic generated by the building. In its current configuration
as a conference center, the Yahara Center has the capacity to
sleep 146 people overnight and provide meeting accommodations
for 225 people. The WCSN proposal would reduce the number of
beds to 56 , a reduction of 90 beds , with an even greater
reduction in the potential use of the meeting facilities. As a
result of these changes , our neighbors will see a substantial
decrease in the amount of vehicle traffic making trips to and
from the Center.
We also believe that the proposal is an excellent use of the
facility from both a physical and community perspective. The
WCSN proposal would require only minimal remodeling of the
existing office space and bedrooms . We also believe that there
is a great need in our community for this type of facility,
especially one that specifically meets the needs of women and
children. While we wish that circumstances would permit us to
continue to operate the Yahara Center as a Christian conference
center, we are very happy that our facility can be made
available for this type of use.
We hope that the proposed conditional use permit receives your
support.
Sincerely,
f
MAY
St-ve Yot' g 11 1992
Vice-Pre ide and Treasurer
RECEIVED
2QNING DIV.
