June 22, 1992
Springdale Township
Dane County Zoning and Natural Resources Committee
210 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd
Madison, Wisconsin
Dear Committee Members,
We request that the Dane County Zoning and Natural Resources Committee
postpone consideration of Conditional Land Use Permit ' 999 until after the
Planning Commission and Board of Springdale Township have thoroughly
considered the requested airport and made a recommendation about it to you.
There has been conflicting information regarding the safety, nuisance, and
and other impacts of the proposed airport on our community. The Planning •
Commission and Board of Springdale Township need to have the opportunity
to hear thoroughly from both the proponents and the opponents of Permit
#'Uqu
The Dane County Zoning Board received a list of recommendations about
the airport from Mr. William Garfoot and Mr. Donald Courtney, dated June 9
(Exhibit B). Exhibit B was not available at the meeting of the 'Springdale
Town Planning Committee on June 1. Therefore, residents of the township
were unaware of that document at the only town meeting we have had about
Permit *999, and we would like Mr. Garfoot to officially present the details
of his June 9 document and any ammendments to it at the next meetings of
the the Springdale Planning Commission (June 29) and Springdale Town (July
13). Our Town Planning Committee and Town Board may need to conduct a
field inspection of the airport site by themselves and aviation experts to
evaluate the safety and nuisance concerns shared by the residents of
Springdale.
