• <br /> DH REPAIR SHOP PROPOSAL/REQUEST <br /> We have owned our current property for approximately 12 years. In the past 7 years we <br /> have started a repair business which has now outgrown our current facilities. What we <br /> would like to do is purchase approximately 3 acres of land to the East of our current <br /> location and build a new shop. This would allow us to remain in the Town of Berry rather <br /> than look for land elsewhere. It would also allow us to better serve our customers who, <br /> many of which, are Town of Berry residents and businesses. <br /> The following list of items are additional reasons in support of this proposal: <br /> - The only direction we could possibly go with an addition to our current <br /> building would be to the South. We cannot go that direction due to the <br /> location of the well and septic systems and we do not have an adequate <br /> amount of land to allow access to such an addition. <br /> - Currently it is a safety hazard any time customers leave the property due <br /> to the knoll on the East and vehicles blocking the view on the West. (The <br /> proposed driveway would be ON the knoll to allow better visibility.) NOTE: <br /> we have received a State Highway Entrance Permit. <br /> - There would be no added burden to the Town for snowplowing, garbage <br /> pick—up or road upkeep. <br /> - We have always kept our property neat and clean and would continue to do <br /> so. We also recycle old parts and liquids when possible or use proper <br /> disposal methods. <br /> - This would alleviate complaints from neighbors regarding noise since there <br /> would be more distance between the shop and local residences. (Many <br /> times customers drop their vehicles off during the evening/night hours for <br /> repair the next day which offends neighbors.) <br /> - A larger facility would allow us to fix larger vehicles (trucks, tractors, buses) <br /> which is impossible in the existing facility. We currently have to find other <br /> facilities that can accommodate such vehicles. This takes us away from the <br /> business and makes us unavailable to other customers who may try and <br /> reach us. <br /> - It would allow us to increase our business by being able to handle more <br /> vehicles at one time -- this is important when a vehicle sits waiting for parts <br /> or when it sits waiting for pick—up by the customer. <br /> — OVER — <br />
