Page Two
The 3 acres we are interested in purchasing is currently zoned agricultural and it is
against Town land use regulations to place a commercial business on it. However, we
feel it would be in the Town's best interest to rezone this to commercial for the following
reasons:
- It would allow us to remain in the Town of Berry and keep the business in
the area.
- Our current location is convenient to many Town residents and local
businesses and this would allow this convenience to continue.
- Town tax revenues would not be lost due to the tax rate on land zoned
commercial vs. agricultural.
- The amount of land being taken out of agricultural is minimal.
In response to Don Dega's concern about having customers pick up their vehicles as soon
as they are fixed to eliminate them sitting around we have the following comments:
- Some customers can't pick them up until after their work day ends.
- Sometimes we are unable to reach our customers immediately to inform
them their vehicle is ready for pick-up.
- Our customers occasionally have to rely on other people for transportation
to pick up their vehicle -- some customers only have one vehicle and when
it is being worked on, they are at other people's mercy and must deal with
other people's schedules.
- Some people have jobs that take them out-of-town. They sometimes drop
their vehicle off on Sunday for pick-up on Friday when they return.
- Customers who are not desperate for their vehicle sometimes drop it off for
us to work on at our convenience (a work-it-in type situation).
- We try to meet our customers needs. If it is required that they must sit and
wait for their vehicle(s) to get fixed, they'll take it to a business who has the
ability to park it until they can get back to pick it up. This defeats the
purpose of our goal.
