Williamson OPPOSED: -- COMMUNICATION: County <br /> Airport <br /> ROSS/SAYLES to grant with condition a variance of 10.5 feet± <br /> from maximum height of structures surrounding the Dane County <br /> Regional Airport to allow the installation of ballfield <br /> lighting. <br /> Condition: <br /> Approval is conditioned upon adherence to the specifications <br /> contained in the final report of JDA Aviation Technology <br /> Solutions dated October 1999. <br /> Finding of fact: <br /> 1) . Madison Area Technical College proposes to erect (8) high <br /> intensity lighting poles which exceed height for structures near <br /> the airport. <br /> 2) . Dane County Regional Airport Height Limitation Map Sets 918 <br /> feet MSL as maximum height of structures at this location. <br /> 3) . The FAA has made the determination of no hazard to air <br /> navigation for the poles. <br /> 4) . MATC baseball field sits at the end of Dane County Regional <br /> Area runway 36. <br /> 5) . JDA Aviation Report specifies "Ball Cap" shield use to <br /> prevent glare for approaching aircraft. <br /> Conclusion: <br /> 1) . Variance preserves the zoning ordinance as much as possible <br /> without injustice to applicant. <br /> 2) . Variance is not contrary to rights of others or to the <br /> public interest. <br /> Motion carried - 4-0. <br /> ROSS/SAYLES to adjourn.
