April 12, 1991
Middleton Town Board
7722 Mineral Point Road
Madison, WI 53717 •
Enclosed is an outline, along with copies of letters of
correspondence, map, and conditional use permit guide lines from
Dane County. All of this should represent the activity that has
taken place in efforts to try to receive a Conditional Use Permit
for the property on 3440 High Point Road in the Town of
Middleton .
The reason we are requesting a Conditional Use Permit is that we
would like to operate a Wildlife Art Gallery and Winery as well
as live in the house located on 3440 High Point Road. We would
not change the property (except for improvements ) in any way as
to affect the surrounding land. We now own and operate Voyager
Gallery at 5923 Exchange Street, McFarland, as of April of 1984.
The reason we would like to add the wine sales to the gallery is
that many artists today are creating wine labels along with
original art and limited edition prints. The wine would sell in
correlation to a limited edition print and would be matching so
the customer would have the option of purchasing each limited
edition. We would sell no wine by the glass or bottles opened .
The majority of the wine would sell from $10. 00 to $15.00 and up
per bottle . We feel that the Gallery would be an asset to the
area, since many of the new homes that are being built are
perhaps the kind of households that would be looking for art for
their homes, and would enjoy the option of being able to purchase
art close to the area that they live. We would like the Board to
know that the Conditional Use Permit would not stay with the
property in the future should we sell, but would have to be
applied for by the new owners.
