41141 <br /> ICE AGE PARK & TRAIL <br /> FOUNDATION, INC. <br /> May 18, 1990 <br /> Mr. Bill Fleck, Zoning Administrator <br /> Dane County Department of Land Regulation & Records <br /> 210 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard <br /> Madison, Wisconsin 53709 <br /> RE: ZONING PETITION #4732 <br /> Dear Mr. Fleck: <br /> I met with Leslie and Peg Ballweg on April 23, 1990 to <br /> determine the possibility of locating the Ice Age National Scenic <br /> Trail on their property in Section 26 of the Town of Roxbury in <br /> the approximate alignment mapped for the Trail by the Department <br /> of Natural Resources and the Dane County Parks Department. I <br /> walked the proposed Trailway with the Ballwegs and discussed with <br /> them the requirements for a high quality trail . The Ballwegs <br /> seemed quite sympathetic to the goals of the Ice Age Trail project <br /> and genuinely interested in accommodating the Trail on their land. <br /> We agreed that the Trailway shown in yellow on the attached <br /> aerial photograph would adequately provide for the Ice Age Trail . <br /> This involves a corridor of woodland approximately 450 feet wide <br /> extending west from Ballweg Road and a corridor 208 feet wide <br /> running north and south the length of their property. The entire <br /> Trailway amounts to approximately 22 acres . The Ballwegs agreed <br /> to modify their re-zoning request to exclude this area from the <br /> proposed residential lots . <br /> The Ballwegs also agreed to allow an appraisal to be done of <br /> this parcel for the Ice Age Park & Trail Foundation and to consider <br /> an offer to purchase it by the Foundation. I am proceeding with <br /> the necessary arrangements to continue the negotiations with the <br /> Ballwegs . <br /> Sincerely, <br /> dr <br /> cc.
