BOX 120 - MEDFORD, WISCONSIN 54451
March 6, 1990
TO: DANE COUNTY ZONING BOARD
FROM: James Peterson Sons, Inc.
P. O. Box 120
Medford, WI 54451
SUBJECT: Request for a conditional use permit to allow
excavation processes to occur on property
zoned A-l.
We are aski c for a request for a conditional use permit on
the Violet { ; . property located as follows
(refer to location map) :
SE4 NE 4 and NE4 SE 4 and part of SE4 SE4
lying North of Branch Road, Sec. 23 , T9N,
R11E of the 4th Principle Meridian all in
Dane County, Wisconsin. 70-„, 2/ /3r es 7n
Tax Parcel No. : 06-0911-231-9500-7
, Only the SEa NEa of said parcel be granted said permit.
-- — • 860/ ex-6" sa r cC- pa rc.e/ 01-7 ly
This request has arisen due to reconstruction of USH 151
between Sun Prairie and Columbus. We propose to excavate
earthened material to meet. borrow requirements of the
Wisconsin Department of Transportation persuant to Sec 208
of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction,
1989 Edition.
We propose to excavate 100-150,000 cubic yards of earthened
material to be exclusively used for the reconstruction of USH 151 .
Our plan is to excavate approximately 18 feet off of 20 acres
from southeast to northwest to maintain positive drainage as it
currently exists (refer to drainage map and cross-section drwg) .
We would excavate 1/3 to 1/2 .of the proposed area per phase.
This procedure reduces the amount of time that the area would
be subject to erosion. The topsoil would be stripped off and
stockpiled by the edges of the excavation. Silt fence shall be
placed along the edges of the stockpile to minimize any possible
damage from erosion (refer to site plan) . After the excavation
in a particular phase has been completed, the topsoil shall be
replaced to near its original thickness and seeded as directed in
subsection 208 . 3 of said specifications. Also, if conditions
arise, silt fence can be installed along the, southeastern limits
of excavation to prevent siltation of adjoining property.
