Zoning Petition 4764 continued . . .page 3
Further, the proposed dwelling sites are tucked away in locations
which will be very inconspicuous, thus maintaining the rural
nature of the area.
Item 5)
"There have been problems with septic systems in our
neighborhood. . . "
RESPONSE to item 5:
We are not aware of problems with septic systems in the Burning
Tree neighborhood. Obviously, many of the older systems that
were installed in Dane County under less stringent environmental
rules than were present at the time of Burning Tree have failed
over the years. I don't know what relevence this has to the
zoning question. However, we have completed percolation tests on
the sites in question and they meet the current requirements of
Dane County.
Item 6)
"This petition is not due to any hardship. . . " " . . . sole intent
and interest is. . . significant profit at the expense of the
neighborhood and township. "
RESPONSE to item 6:
I am not aware of the need to present a hardship case to the
County in order to obtain a zoning variance. We requested this
variance on the encouragement of Town Clerk Rosylnn Gausemann who
advised us at the time that she saw no reason why the County
would deny this request and even helped us in the selection of
what she saw to be the most appropriate zoning categories.
Mr Johnson' s statement on "profit at the expense of the
neighborhood" , is most offensive! Although I have not met Mr.
Johnson, I understand he recently purchased a home in Burning
Tree. Obviously he must enjoy what we have created in the past.
Further, I am not aware of anyone who has critized Burning Tree
as not being environmentally sensitive nor ruining the rural
character of the Town. I have no intent of ruining what I have
created by insensitive parceling out of the farm that we have
held in the family for over 68 years!
Finally, Mr. Johnson has no knowledge whatsoever on our financial
position with respect to this property nor the cost of
maintaining this property for his enjoyment and his remarks are
completely off base. Perhaps he needs to be advised that profit
issues are irrelevent in the matters of zoning.
