Zoning Petition May 10, 1990 continued . . .page 4
SUMMARY and response to item 7:
We have offers to purchase on 2 of the 3 parcels that would be
created by the proposed rezoning and land divisions. Both of
these offers are from neighbors who reside in Burning Tree.
Ironically, they are purchasing these sites themselves to protect
their current investment in the neighborhood. It would appear
that this indeed is consistent with intent of the land use plan:
County and Town zoning approval would create 2 new parcels; a 40
acre parcel, and a 12 acre parcel on which the farm buildings are
located. A 3rd 15. 5 acre parcel already exists, but rezoning
would create a buildable site. While it is true that two
additional building sites would result, it is my understanding
that the buyer of the 15.5 acre parcel would not be be using this
parcel as a building site for some years to come.
Certainly parcels of this size would not harm the rural nature of
the town nor take prime farmland out of production. We feel that
the creation of these parcels will in fact enhance the
neighborhood and the Town of Dunn and, frankly, make possible the
improvement of the present farm buildings that are rapidly
deteriorating due to lack of proper use and maintainance.
Therefore, we respectfully request your committee approve our
Zoning Petition 4764.
Thank you for your consideration of these issues.
Sincerely,
Terry Halverson
cc: Town of Dunn Clerk
Town of Dunn Planning commission
