To: Shary Bisgard, Chair
Agriculture, Environment & Land Records Committee
From: Kenneth U. Johnson
4003 Burning Tree Rd.
Town of Dunn
Re: Zoning Petition #4764
By: Ron Haessig, Agent for Dennis & Terry Halverson
I would like to request that the above petition for rezoning not
be acted upon by your committee until the Town of Dunn Planning
Committee reviews this petition. There is significant concern by
the neighborhood concerning this petition in the following
regard:
1) It has been requested that Parcel 14 0610-273-9290 be
included as part of the Hilmar Halverson Farm as of 1977 .
If that is the case, the total acreage of this farm in 1977
was 70.9 acres. It is believed that this parcel was not
part of the farm in 1977 , therefore, only one building
parcel can be created from this farm, not two or three.
Dane County is currently reviewing this item.
2) It is believed that Parcel 14 0610-331-8790-2 was a
contiguous part of the Hilman Halverson farm in 1977 and
cannot be considered a separate building parcel in
accordance with the Town of Dunn Land Use Plan. Dane County
is also reviewing this item.
3) The neighborhood adjacent to these parcels is residential
with numerous families with children. The petition for
rezoning requests that the parcels be zoned RH-2 and RH-3 .
This zoning is inconsistent with neighborhood and its
character. Certainly no livestock or animals should be
permitted.
4) All the current properties contain numerous covenants and
restrictions in their deeds to maintain the character of our
neighborhood. The proposed new building parcels would not
contain such covenants and restrictions.
5) This property is prime farmland and would be better used as
farmland. Historically, there has been problems with septic
systems in our neighborhood because of the soil conditions.
