Shook:
As requested, I have reviewed the proposed site for the new Town
Hall and Town Park with regards to access and the impact of
additional traffic on the adjacent Town roads .
The two vehicle accesses planned for the site are well locted
with regard to stopping site distance . The desirable stopping
site distance for vehicles traveling at 50 miles per hour is 475
feet . The available stopping site distance when approaching from
the south on Pioneer Road is approximately 750 feet . When
approaching from the west on Old Sauk Road it is approximately
800 feet and from the east it is approximately 1200 feet. The
legal speed limit on Old Sauk Road and Pioneer Road is 45 miles
per hour .
The additional vehicle trips per day generated by this facility
when fully developed is estimated between 300 and 600 vehicle
trips per day. Because this site is accessable from four
different directions the additional traffic will not exceed the
capacity of the existing town road system.
Old Sauk Road has been recommended for resurfacing in the 1989
Town Road Maintenance Program.
Sincerely,
Gre g Held, P.E.
HELD & ASSOCIATES, INC.
GDH:dp
