SUPERVISOR Telephone: Middleton 833-5887
PAUL R. MUSSER, ASSESSOR
May 23, 1989
Ms. Shary Bisgard, Chairperson
Agriculture, Environment & Land Records Committee
Dane County
City-County Building
210 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
Madison, WI 53709
RE: Conditional Use Permit #745 - Town of Middleton Hall and Park
Dear Ms. Bisgard and Members:
Your decision on the above named petition is a critical one for
the Town of Middleton. Our offer to purchase the identified site is
contingent upon receiving the required conditional use permit before
June 1, 1989. For this reason, we respectfully request that you make
your decision at this May 23 meeting, rather than allowing any delay
to occur.
We would also request that any granting of Conditional Use Permit
#745 be effective upon actual purchase date by the Town.
I have included, for your information:
a. a copy of the informational pamphlet which was mailed to
Town voters ( contains a sample ballot),
b. a letter from the Town Engineer, Greg Held, which addresses
traffic questions,
c. a letter from Dale Parker, Consultant Soil Scientist,
d. a copy of the notice of public information hearings which
was mailed to Town voters,
e. a small copy of the site master plan.
f. a copy of the official record of the Town vote on this issue.
The Town Board and the many Town residents who serve on commissions
and committees are looking forward to providing an attractive, site-
appropriate designed building, and an attractively landscaped park
to serve our Town needs and to benefit all of our Town citizens. In
addition, we expect that the site will be a welcome resting place for
Madison and other Dane County bikers who use Old Sauk Rd. as a primary
route to the west. Our acceptance of the DNR grant will ensure at
least 26 acres of permanent greenspace in this area of high development
pressure.
We are delighted to be able to report to you that 67% of the voters
support this move. The Town Board, the Town Parks Commission, and
the Town Plan Commission have all voted unanimously to support this
move. We thank you for the time you have spent reviewing this permit
application, and request that you grant a Conditional Use Permit for
Governmental Use for this site.
Sincerely,
ancy . Shook
Town S ervisor
