WISCONSIN 53704 JUL 1988 244.1365- 244-1366 {� RECEIVE() ZONING Div. • July 21 , 1988 Agriculture, Environment & Land Records Committee Room 116 , City County Building Madison,WI 53709 RE: C.D.P. # 678 and C.S.M. for Town of Burke Town Hall Ladies & Gentlemen: This letter is to outline the Town position on some of the items presented to the Board by the Cities of Madison and Sun Prairie giving their objections to the Town's plan of relocating its town hall from the City of Madison to a centralized location in the Town. This particular site is located in the middle of the Town with good access for all our residents and response from our patrolmen for plowing and other necessary services that the Town provides to its citizens . The Town of Burke has been working on the relocation of it's town hall since 1983 where at the Annual Meeting the Residents of the town voted to form a committee to study the feasibility of moving the town hall back into the town. • Since the formation of the committee there have been many discussions as to where to locate, how much to ask for the property in the City of Madison and so on . Many resident have been asking for years "When are we going to do something about relocation our Town Hall in the Town" . At the last Annual Meeting, a long time resident of the Town offered to donate 3 acres for the new town hall , with the stimpulation that it be used by June 1989 . I am sure the reason for the time limit is because the issue has been hanging for so long. The building of a new town hall is not a first step toward total development, as inferred by City of Madison staff. On the contrary, the Town has in the past and will continue to work with both cities to coordinate planning. A case in point was all the work done to outline a landscape corridor along Highway 151 , which was agreed to by all, and the cooperation received from the Town in official mapping all streams and gree aay corridors in the Town as identified by the RPC staff (see enclosed map) . You will note the greenway corridor on the western edge of Sun Prairie referred to by the City of Madison has been identified on the official map to insure protection.
