July 18, 1980
To: Vermont Town Board
From: Subcommittee r►ittee of concerned citizens.
S uhi cTh 7anina netition#474:1 C t J P 1 RV Rvr Tyrol Rasin Cnmorginn
%Wte ttebvtt+rratrnti that Utz"area rtMrrt✓tl frarrr Fir-1 fitrortratib►rial tlia4riat tt' D-1 Ii►oal
Business be reduced to the smallest size possible centered on the ski chalet. The total
area zoned to B-1 local business is not to exceed 20,000 square feet. Which would
permit wedding receptions, seminars, etc, and the sale of alcoholic beverages. The RE-1
Recreation district zoning presently permits the caretakers house, parking, rental of
equipment and the sale of related supplies eg:ski wax, boot laces,etc.,. If Dane county is
unable to limit the area zoned B-1 local business to less than 20,000 square feet then a
deed restriction limiting the B-1 uses would be acceptable. The deed restriction would
limit the b-1 uses to:skiing activity, wedding receptions, seminars, the serving of catered
food, and or a restaurant, and the retail sales of sporting goods.
We recommend that the zoning be approved with the following two conditional use
permits.
1. In the B1 Local Business district conditional use permit for the liquor license: The
sale of alcoholic beverages shall be limited to the times when organized activities are
taking place.eg skiing, wedding receptions, seminars,or when food is served or
restaurant is opened. Carry out sale of alcoholic beverages is not permitted.
A. Loud speakers for amplified music shall be placed no farther than 75 feet from the
Ski Chalet. Sound from these loudspeakers is intended to be contained to this area.
There will be no amplified music aimed at the ski slopes,
2.In the RE-1 Recre Lion conditional use permit for the outdoor lighting: The lighting
shall be limited to the downhill ski slopes. The lights shall be hooded to cut down on the
light splashing away from the ski slopes.
A. Hours of operation of the downhill lighting shall be limited to 11:30 pm when the
facility is open for recreational purposes. However the lighting may be continued beyond
this hour when the facility is not open to the general public, for non-revenue generating
activity,eg:team practice. This use shall be limited to 6 times a year as per review by the
town of Vermont board.
B. Partial lighting is permitted for maintenance and snow making when the ski
slopes are otherwise closed.
C. Loud speakers for amplified music shall be placed no farther than 75 feet from the
Ski Chalet. Sound from these loudspeakers is intended to be contained to this area.
There will be no amplified music aimed at the ski slopes.
•
