September 12, 1988
Ms. Shary Bisgard, Chair
Agriculture, Environment
& Land Records Committee
Dane County Zoning Department
Room 116, City-County Building
Madison, WI 53709
Dear Ms. Bisgard,
Since we cannot attend the public hearing on Zoning Petition #4350 (P.H.
9/13/88, Item No. 24) regarding rezoning property at 4667 Meadowlark
Street, Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, we wish to register our opposition.
When we bought our property at 2756 Gaston Road we were assured that no
subdividing of the property at 4667 Meadowlark would be allowed and that
the property would always retain its rural flavor.
This area is rapidly becoming congested with traffic and two more
driveway openings onto Meadowlark at this location will create problems
for traffic turning off Gaston to reach the other homes in the area. It
is our understanding that no more driveway openings will be allowed onto
Gaston Road which is now very heavily travelled.
This rezoning is being requested by a party who has built a new home on
the property, has been reassigned and has left a vacant house pending
sale, the property is very unsightly with weeds overtaking the grounds,
and who apparently is interested in selling his property and not in
preserving the ambience of the neighborhood.
It is our feeling that if this property is rezoned it will open the way
for rezoning further agricultural land in the area for residences,
destroying the rural flavor and upsetting the ecosystem of the area even
more.
It is not in the best interest of the neighborhood to rezone this
property.
s(Y11---e-°(--/
Anita B.
