This property has
been farmed for many years. Typically the fields have been planted in hay, corn or
soybeans. Currently the fields have been planted in corn. The property has been
previously mined (prior to 1969) with the northern half of the property being previously
reclaimed quarry lands (approximately 10 acres). The south 10 acres of this property has
an existing quarry (1.6 acres) to be reclaimed and the remaining 8.4 acres to be quarried
and reclaimed, as shown on Map#2. Materials to be mined include sand and gravel.
Natural topsoil quantities on site are very small and topsoil will not be sold or removed
from the site. The gravel, larger stones and boulders will be sorted, some crushed and
screened on site for use in concrete, street sub-base, driveways, building foundations,
landscaping, etc. In addition, salvaged asphalt and concrete materials will be brought
from offsite, recycled and processed on site. This mine is located on a ridge and no offsite
runoff enters the quarry site. In addition, the quarry will be below existing grade and no
water entering the quarry will leave the quarry. Surface water falling into the quarry will
infiltrate into the sand and gravel deposits. See Maps #2 and#3.
