maturity, water will be directed across the bottom of the quarry by grades to ponds in the
northwest end of the quarry. See Map#2. The existing quarry has a pit floor below grade
and retains water until it evaporates or infiltrates into the sand and gravel.
A nearby test pit indicates ground water in this area is approximately at elevation 846.
See Map#2. There is no de-watering expected for this site.
74.131(2)(b) Biological Resources: Biological resources are generally limited on this
mine site. Some small areas of brush and trees are growing along the fence rows and on
the existing quarry banks. These areas may provide habitat for small animals and birds
such as fox, rabbit, skunk, mice, songbirds, and others typical to this part of Wisconsin.
There are no significant or older quality trees on this site. The few existing trees are
mostly boxelder and concentrated along the existing quarry edge and some in the
southwest corner of this property. Adjacent lands are also farmland and provide similar
limited habitat. Map#2 shows wooded areas.
74.131(2)(c) Topography: See Map#2 for existing contours of the area and existing
mine. This property is a sand and gravel ridge. This ridge has been mined years ago and
contours show the existing pit.
74.131(2)(d) Manmade Features: The quarry operator will install and will maintain a
scale on the recycled asphalt driveway entering the quarry from Koshkonong Road. The
driveway will have a lockable gate at Koshkonong Road. See Map#2. In addition, there
will be processing equipment on wheels which is moved on site as batch processing is in
progress. Processing equipment includes crushers, screens, conveyors, generators, etc.
Processing equipment and material stockpiles generally will occupy an area of
approximately 5 acres, fairly close to the sand and gravel being mined. There are only
two residences within 600 feet of the working quarry. These are both located
approximately 500 feet west of the southwest corner of this property. There are other
residences along the north and west property lines of the full 20 acre parcel, but they are
more than 600 feet away from the south 10 acres to be mined. The north 10 acres have
already been reclaimed from previous mining activity. See Maps #1 and#2.
74.131(2)(e) Existing Mine: See Maps#2 and#3. Mining of the sand and gravel will
proceed north from Koshkonong Road.
74.131(3)(a) Post Mining Land Use: The quarry is currently zoned Exclusive
Agricultural. Reclamation plans and costs will be based on returning the land to similar
agricultural use.
Mining Reclamation Plan 2
JH-09-14
5/6/2014
