PETITION FOR REZONING AND APPLICATION FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR THE STATE OF WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR GOVERNOR NELSON STATE PARK, TOWN OF WESTPORT This petition and application consists of 6 parts which include: Item #1 - Application detailing background of proposal , proposed uses, time schedule for development and suitability of property for proposed uses, acreage to be rezoned. Item #2 - Legal Description of Park with Maps Item #3 - Tax Parcel Numbers of Property Item #4 - Site, Building and Development Plans Item #5 - Map of Adjoining Land Uses Item #6 - Environmental Impact Statement for Park Proposed Use Recreational zoning and a conditional use permit is being requested to allow governmental use in an area presently zoned residential . The proposed use is development and operation of a state park, the purpose of which by statue is "to provide areas for public recreation and for public education in conserva- tion and nature study." The park will be managed for multiseason day use recreation for such uses including without limitation because of enumeration: picnicking, swimming, sun bathing and beach use, fishing, boating, ice fish- ing, cross country skiing, bicycling, hiking, nature observation and study, and other types of general outdoor recreation. No overnight camping will be allowed. Specific developments are proposed to accommodate swimming and beach use, boating and fishing, picnicking and trail use, and open field recreation. Support facilities will include offices, park entrance station and service buildings. New development will include a park visitor entrance station with offices, roads, parking lots, boat launch area, fish cleaning station with toilets, beach area with a bathhouse including changing areas, showers, toilets and vending machine area, service building with storage and work areas, lunch room and shower/toilet facilities. Development will occur in stages.
