I understand there is some concern about rezoning request #3526. This letter serves to advise you that this petition is sponsored by the Town Board. For expediency, and to reflect the majority concurrence of the residents, we did not file the petition in the town's name. Based on the information provided by the Dane County Zoning Office, the town has the legal authority, as do the landowners in whose name the petition has been submitted, to effect such a rezoning. More importantly, the zoning requested is in the best interests of the township and is the proper zoning for the area in question. The Chairman of the town's Planning and Zoning Committee, at the request of the Town Board, advised the residents to submit this petition. This petition will effect the proper zoning and recognize the character (residential) of the area in question. This is an area that should have been rezoned some time ago, and this petition will correct a situation that has caused many problems in the past. I request that you either amend the petition and include the Town of Mazomanie as a co-sponsor, or let it stand as submitted, but recognize the fact that it is submitted by the residents, on behalf of, and under direct request of the town's Planning and Zoning Committee and Town Board.
