•
The result of this would certainly be devastating to the values of all the
neighboring residential properties. We believe the difference between this
property becoming a park or becoming a commercial refuse recycling business
would mean the difference between this area upgrading to a $100,000.00 neighbor-
hood or deteriorating to a $40,000.00 neighborhood.
The truck and auto traffic created by a commercial recycling business
would be a safety problem to the children, pedestrians, and others who daily
use Natvig Road, which is a narrow shoulderless street. That commercial
traffic, when combined with the residential vehicle traffic, will put
additional and dangerous pressure on the intersection of Natvig Road and Highway
N which already is a potentially dangerous intersection with very limited
visability to the North. It would be much more dangerous for vehicles
travelling Southerly over the crest of the hill approaching the Natvig Road
intersection if there were large slow-moving refuse trucks using that inter-
section.
In summation, we believe that homeowners in residential neighborhoods
should not have to look out their windows and see a commercial refuse recycling
business, or have to pass in front of that type of operation when travelling
their neighborhood streets, or to have to compete with those large trucks in
getting onto the County Highway, or to have to worry about their children
travelling their street in front of the recycling facility with its large truck
traffic.
The residents of the Town and all the other citizens of the area using
Highway N shouldn't be burdened with the additional and unnecessary danger of
that big slow refuse truck pulling across the road in front of them as they
travel over the crest of the hill on Highway N.
Again, we say we are definitely not opposed to recycling, we just don't
want it done on an industrial-commercial-business basis in our residential
neighborhood. There are plenty of industrial type areas where this type of
business would be appropriate and that is where it should be located.
