My name is John Dahl, I own some residential lots in the "Rolling Wheels"
subdivision and also land surrounding "Rolling Wheels" and west of and directly
across Natvig Rd. from the former Landfill Site. Some of this land is zoned
residential R-1, is contiguous to the existing Skyhigh subdivision and overlooks
the former Landfill Site. This land has preliminarily been plotted into 40 lots
and at some time in the future when the economy is better and the homebuilding
business recovers, this area will be developed into single family homes and most
of this residential traffic and much of the Skyhigh subdivision traffic will
travel past the former landfill site as the most used route to and from their
residences.
I am intensely opposed to the granting of rezoning and a Conditional Use
Permit to allow the establishment of a commercial recycling business at the former
landfill site. It just isn't a reasonable, fair or ethical think to do and it
shouldn't be allowed for both human and legal reasons.
While it is true that a solid waste recycling center is a possible conditional
use for A-2 property, it is not allowable in A-1 Exclusive which is the present
zoning and it certainly is not for residential property. It is only logical that
A-1 Exclusive agricultural property across a narrow neighborhood street from
residential property is not a possible candidate for receiving a conditional use
permit for that purpose.
The quality of life, the general welfare, the happiness, pride and safety of
the existing residents of Rolling Wheels, the future residents of the presently
zoned R-1 property, the existing residents of Skyhigh and many other nearby
residents would be greatly affected as they and their children live and travel
the streets in their neighborhood.
The residential property values of everyone nearby or within eyesite would
be adversely affected and the total of these loss's could easily be in the
hundreds of thousands of dollars.
It isn't reasonable to ask neighboring residents to pay this kind of price,
in both dollars and living conditions, to allow placement of a business in a
location where it really doesn't belong and for which there are many more suitable
locations available.
