BOD , NH,, and COD
concentrations were measured at 980, 60 and 1300 mg/1',
respectively.
In view of the close proximity of the pond (with overflow culvert)
to the stream, contaminated seepage water reaches the creek during
periods of precipitation and runoff. For the protection of Black
Earth Creek, the operator should make arrangements to have the
pond pumped out regularly and hauled to a participating major
wastewater treatment facility. The overflow culvert should be
plugged to prevent accidental runoff and further water quality
degradation to the stream.
DM:jc
cc: J. Warren - MA
J.
