Mr. John DeBeck - June 20, 1986 2
Also, no overflow of pond water should be allowed to occur. Based
on discussions with our wastewater staff a WPDES (Wisconsin
Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) permit may be required for
any discharge from the pond. This would require continuous
monitoring of the water quality in the pond which would be
required to meet water quality standards. I have enclosed a copy
of a WPDES permit application. George Osipoff, Area Wastewater
Engineer, should be contacted with any questions you have about
this at 608/273-5969.
The pond water should be pumped whenever necessary to prevent
overflow and sent to a sewage treatment plant for treatment.
Regular sampling of the pond water will be necessary.
We are also requesting, at this time, a copy of the information on
leachate head levels within the landfill which was recently
calculated by RMT (Residuals Management Technologies). Since a
number of leachate seeps were found along the west end of the
landfill berm we would like to review this information to deter-
mine if any remedial action is necessary.
If you have any questions on the above please do not hesitate to
call me at 608/273-5972.
Sincerely,
Marie Stewart
Area Solid Waste Investigator
MS:jw
Enc.
cc: Paul Didier - SW/3 - GEF II
Daniel Carey - SW/3 - GEF II
Joseph Brusca - SD
George Osipoff - MAD
David Marshall - MAD
LuAnn Kuzma - MAD
Robert Glebs - RMT
---;;Robert Anders - Dane County Supervisor,
4232 Twin Valley Road, Middleton, WI 53562
Ronald Ahner - Trout Unlimited, 5191 N.
