•
To the Concerned Parties
This letter is in reaction to comments made at the county committee
work night, March 25, regarding the Irving Smith rezone to commercial.
We the present family residents have built our homes within the last
20-30 years in this strictly A-1 and single family residential section. There
have been farm homes there for 60 plus years. Therefore, no commercial
plot this size was ever in existence at our decision making time to build here.
It is essential now to take this type of commercial into consideration when
making a decision for this negative environmental impact upon us and the
possibility of a heavy traffic pattern through Cottage Grove and directly
past our elementary school of 386 students. There are noise factors, pollution
factors, nuisance factors, and strong non-safety factors in conjunction with
this site's location.
Another point I am addressing is a comment 'There is more noise from
the Interstate than what this terminal would create'. I challenge anyone
to visit this existing driveway, and it will prove in complete reverse this
comment. One semi or straight truck shifting or down shifting is maximum
compared to the Interstate. Now multiply this by 4x17 trucks (possibility
of becoming this size) for daytime traffic plus all night traffic of semis.
I now ask you to deeply consider this plan - Is it an appropriate site
for single family residents to be forced to adapt to these adverse living
conditions.
Yes#we do carry some very valid facts" in opposition to this rezoning.
ua,
Victor and Janice Horstmeye
REC Vr °a
