BACKGROUND ON A-2 ZONING DISTRICT
1983 (? ) Norb Scribner informed chair Weisensel & committee
members of an A-2 parcel which had been subdivided into 2
lots without town or county review. This was allowed under
current A-2 zoning. Licht suggested corrective action but
committee decided to address A-2 zoning as part of an
ordinance review process .
August 27, 1984 . The A-1, A-B and A-2 districts were
discussed and changes were approved . Section 10 .126 (A-2
zoning districts ) changes included:
( 4 )AREA, FRONTAGE AND DENSITY REGULATIONS
(a) A-2 (1) = minimum 1 acre
A-2 (2 ) = If 2 acres
A-2 ( 4 ) = " 4 acres
A-2 (8 ) = If 8 acres
A-2 = " 16 acres
October 2, 1984 . A-2 district minimum parcel size was
reviewed; the Committee reaffirmed its approval of graduated
parcel sizes .
February 11, 1985. Bill Fleck submitted as draft of the Ag
district ordinances for review. Licht/Dahlk moved approval
of Ag districts as amended; motion carried, 5-0 .
Summer, 1985. Ag district amendments were presented to towns
at 3 area meetings . Responses were solicited.
May 6, 1986 . Licht submitted petition 3696 on A-2 zoning
graduated parcel size as the committee agreed upon in 1984
and 1985.
July, 1986 . Committee voted against approval of 3696 . 18
Towns sent communications in favor, one opposed .
August, 1986 . Anderson and Licht attended Towns association
meeting and explained positions on petition 3696 .
Anderson: petition too confusing and don't really need
it. R-H zoning takes care of all needs .
Licht: A-2 zoning is needed for a wide variety of uses;
as it stands, allows potential for creation of 4 half acre
lots with no town or county review and therefore conflicts
with most town land use plans .
•
