Office and Residence (608) 767-2274 Mazomanie, WI 53560 <br /> May 22, 2985 <br /> Dane County Zoning Department <br /> City-County Building <br /> Madison, WI <br /> Gentlemen: <br /> Following is the application of St. Paul' s Lutheran Church, <br /> c/o Carl Ketelboeter, Chairman, Building Committee, Rt. 1 , <br /> Mazomanie, Wisconsin, for a variance to existing zoning <br /> setback requirements. <br /> The subject property is situated on S.T.H. 19, 0.1 mile west <br /> of Marxville, and is located in the SE4SE4, Section 4, T8N,R7E, <br /> Town of Berry. <br /> The congregation has long considered addition to the church <br /> building. The building has never been equipped with plumbing <br /> and bathrooms. There is no office space. There has long been <br /> a need for expanding the main entrance or narthex to the church. <br /> The congregation has, consequently, appointed a building <br /> committee to plan an addition and put into motion activity to <br /> secure the necessary approvals to begin a building program. <br /> The proposal is to add 24 feet to the south end of the building <br /> and provide a width of 38 feet. This addition would expand the <br /> narthex and provide space for bathrooms, church offices, <br /> accomodate handicapped access to the building, and provide <br /> needed class room and fellowship space in the basement.. Attached <br /> drawings include site plan, floor plan, and building elevations. <br /> The building is presently non-conforming because it is within <br /> the required 100 foot highway setback. The proposed 24 foot <br /> addition would further encroach on the setback, and a variance <br /> is needed. The existing building is presently about 81 feet <br /> from the centerline of S.T .H. 19.
