DANE COUNTY APPLICATION FOR REZONE P.H. 3/12/86 Item No. : 33
Zoning Petition /37L.7
Public Hearing: August 12, 1986
Time: 7:30 p. a. Room 224 City-County Building, Madison
We are here this evening to voice our opposition to the application
for rezoning; being: considered by the Dane County Zoning Department.
My husband, Will, and I are in the process of purchasing; the property
directly Eat of the proposed site of Epic Systems, Inc. ode were attracted
to our new home because of its rural setting and all of the beauty that
surrounds it. It was extremely upsetting to us to find out that even
before we are able to close on our new home a commercial enterprise is
attempting to move in across the street. Why are we opposed?
1 . We have four youns children who must walk down High Point Road
to Aid Town Road twice a day to meet the bus and return home.
The added traffic Epic Systems, Inc. or any other commercial concern
would bring to our area posses a threat to the safety of our children.
2. Not only will our children be walking on High Point Road frequently,
but they will also be riding bicycles and horses in the vicinity. Again,
employee and service traffic is a threat to the activities we have
planned for our family. Had we wanted traffic problems, we would have
stayed in our home in Arbor Hills in the city of Madison. We moved
here to enjoy the peace of the countryside.
3. It has come to our attention that High Point Road may be widened at some
point in the future. A surveyor on our property told us that the widening-
will destroy the protective tree-line along High Point Road. Having a
commercial concern in our vicinity would hasten that project and we, of
course hate to see that happen any sooner than is necessary.
