DANE COUNTY EROSION CONTROL
APPLICATION CHECKLIST COMMENTS
The following comments supplement the Dane County Erosion Control
Application Checklist on page 5. Each comment heading relates to an item on the Dane
County Checklist.
1. Description of How the Site Is To Be Developed
For this report, a construction start date of October 1, 2008 was assumed. A
completion date of October 1, 2009 was also assumed. All erosion control
measures will be installed at the beginning of the construction operations.
2. Drawing of Site
The Grading and Erosion Control Plan, Exhibit #3, shows the property lines,
limits of disturbed area, land cover type, natural and artificial water features,
and the location of all proposed erosion control practices for the site.
3. Direction of Flow of Runoff
In general, the existing and proposed runoff drains from the west to east
towards Lake Koshkonong.
4. Watershed Size for Each Drainage Area
The drainage area is approximately 0.5 acres.
5. Provisions to Prevent Mud-tracking Off-site onto Public Thoroughfares
The stone construction entrance will be maintained by the contractor in a
condition which will prevent the track of mud or dry sediment onto the
adjacent public streets. Sediment reaching the public road shall be removed
by street cleaning (not hydraulic flushing)before the end of each workday.
6. Provisions to Prevent the Delivery of Sediment to the Stormwater System
There are no storm sewer inlets on site and the erosion control measures will
prevent sediment from discharging to stormwater facilities.
7. Minimize Sheet and Rill Erosion to 7.5 Tons/Acre/Year
Universal Soil Loss Equation worksheets have been prepared and are included
as Exhibit#4. The worksheets show that the expected soil loss is less than 7.5
tons/acre/year.
8. Provisions For Mitigating the Erosive Effect of Land Disturbing Activities
The land disturbing activities are scheduled so that the period of disturbance is
minimized. Disturbed areas will be temporary mulched within 8 months of
initial disturbance and permanently restored within 1 year. Disturbed slopes
greater than 20% will be temporary mulched within 7 days and permanently
restored within 30 days. During construction, the erosion control items will
be maintained so that they remain effective. All material deposited on public
roads shall be cleaned or swept daily.
Shoreland Erosion Control Report
EB-01-08
9/11/2008 6
