PECHMANN CHMANN MEMORIALS
GRANITE - MARBLE - BRONZE
4019 HAMMERSLEY AVENUE HWY. 51 N. & ACKER ROAD
MADISON, WISCONSIN 53705 MADISON, WISCONSIN
RES. - 233-0635 SHOP & DISPLAY - 249-8178
In one instance alone, a single vandal did over $3,800.00 worth
of damage in an area cemetery. Please consider what will happen
when a vandal comes in and pushes over a memorial and gets hurt in
the process(90% of our memorials weigh over 350 lbs. ). Some may try
to sue us regarding their injuries and others may get still more
violent and damage more memorials. Does the neighbor of the VFW on
Highway CV really believe that the beer only tavern will draw the
same age clientele? Why should we be forced to hire our attorney
to defend our business and property from people trying to harm them?
It has been suggested that we do not have adequate lighting
to fully protect our property. If this is the case, then why have
our neighbors been repeatedly robbed from? United RV alone, has had
generators, stereos, tires, and truck toppers stolen. The truck
toppers have been lifted over the back fence to waiting vehicles.
Mr. Skalitzky has proposed putting up a fence to control his customers,
but what kind of fence will stop some determined youth from wandering
on to others property?
Many of our customers will stop in after work and on weekends
when we are not there. These customers are free to browse among the
memorials and contact us later regarding prices and other information.
If we have a fence installed(estimates are $6,000.00 to $7,500.00) to
keep out vandals, we will also be keeping out our own customers.
Fencing will not stop the beer bottles and other debris from finding
its way onto others property. A single bottle thrown against a memorial
can damage the finish, rendering it useless until repaired.
The proposed parking area would be located directly behind our
property. To the north is a wooded hillside and to the south is
a large building of ours, housing a renter(Glass Design Studio).
This proposed parking area would be secluded from view from all
directions. People would be drinking in the parking area, dealing
in drugs and other vices, and racing around. These proposed guards
would not be patrolling 24 hours a day. Nothing has been brought up
regarding the truck drivers and their semis. They can not be expected
to walk up from the truck stops. The trucks alone, will cause all
kinds of problems in the parking area.
When the Town of Burke Planning Commission voted down the beer
license, we had thought the issue would go no further. The town board
voted against the town planning commission and against the town
chairman, to approve the beer license. Stephanie Jensen and ixnest
Skalitzky are on other committees within the township. How can we
expect to receive fair and impartial action when Stephanie and Erbest
are friends? Stephanie Jensen should be taking an impartial position
on this issue.
Many area business people are opposed to the tavern location
and have signed a petition against it. The immediate business people
(see attatched map) are all against it. We please hope that you
consider the adjacent business people when you make your decision.
diiP 34
