Gerhard
Assistant Vice President
U.W. Systems
P.O. Box 8010
1930 Monroe Street
Madison, WI 53708
RE: Planning Review No. 84-5EI
Draft EIS - U.W. West Madison Experimental Station and T.V. Tower
Dear Mr. Gerhard:
The Dane County Regional Planning Commission has reviewed the Draft Environ-
mental Impact Statement and has the following comments:
1 . In reviewing the T.V. Tower site plan we found a potential
conflict with the City of Madison's Official Map. The
future extension of Pleasant View Road southeasterly to
connect to County Highway M across the Mandt Farm has been
officially mapped at 120 feet R.O.W. since June 12, 1973.
This is a concern which needs to be addressed.
Our staff had previously reviewed the Conditional Use Permit
(#397 of July 10, 1984 Public Hearing) . The map under
consideration then showed the site one quarter mile to the
west, which did not impact the proposed roadway extension.
The eastern guy wire of the proposed tower as shown on the
site plan projects across the proposed roadway extension.
The site plan in the EIS is the same as that approved by the
County Zoning Committee on July 24, 1984. This is a concern
that needs to be resolved. If you like, we would be pleased
to assist on this issue.
2. On page 7 there is a brief discussion of the Official Map of
the City of Madison. Upon review of Figure 1 , we note that
the right-of-way (R.O.W. ) for Pleasant View Road is officially
mapped at 120 feet wide from Old Sauk Road to Mineral Point
Road. This is an additional 27 feet on each side of the present
R.O.W.
Also, Mineral Point Road is officially mapped at a width of 120
feet, which needs to be shown.
I
RPC
