-.a ° .4 , • DANE COUNTY
, , Land Regulation U Records Zoning Division
if It; 000/200 4200
Room I 16, City County Building
Madison,Wisconsin 53709
October 12, 1984
John E. Asleson
Clerk, Town of Pl. Springs
1996 Skaalen Road
Stoughton, WI 53589
in: : Zoning Petition #3296 - R. Ehle - Town Reasons for Disapproval.
Dear Mr. Asleson:
It is not mandatory that a town specify their reasons for approval or disa-
pproval of a zoning petition or conditional use permit application. The
reason this issue has come up on the Ehle petition is that Iry Quam called me
and I informed him that the Zoning Committee had amended the petition to R-lA
and it would be coming hack to the town for action as amended.
The Committee did not have any information other than submitted by the appli-
cant. The petition, on the surface, was also similar to several that you have
approved recently and the Committee felt that in all fairness the town should
take another look at it. Iry asked what could be done to enlighten the Com-
mittee; I suggested sending the Committee a list of town reasons on controver-
sial issues or when something out of the ordinary is involved such as a sud-
den change in town approval. Many towns follow this policy and it does aid the
Committee in making a decision. The town action form provides several lines
which may be used to list information or conditions of approval. The Commi-
ttee does pay attention to town comments.
Very truly yours,
William Fleck,
Zoning Administrator
